    User codes shown as ****

    Hi
I am looking for way to have the user code appear as **** instead of visable numbers.
I have modified the MP C3305 PCL6 driver so it will give a pop up user code box. The client does not want the actual numbers to show when entering them as they will often be using a projector in meetings when printing, and of course do not want their personal codes to be seen.

Previous printer was an MP C3500. the pop up shows ****

    How is this acheived??

Is there a written procedure for modifying drivers? I've had 2 customers now saying since they've had a new machine they can't use the pop up code anymore, I've assumed it was in the driver somewhere.

You need to edit the driver to get the user code pop up, Here is link to the tool. However there is no where in there to cause the user codes entered to appear as **** instead of 1234

        Two possible solutions:
        1. If the computer is always used by the same person, enter the user code into printing preferences in the driver.
        2. Configure the projector as an extension of the desktop and have the print then drag the print popup back to the main monitor.

If the previous driver had this functionality, why not just reinstall it? They all use the same printing language, so are (almost nearly always) cross-compatible.

            Slimslob, Ruben

            Thanks
Neither of these options are viable. Multi users per desktop or laptop. Real estate office. I tried using the old driver, now it no longer will do the **** even on the old printer.
Neither are they interested in a workaround.
I am thinking this a windows issue somewhere.

FYI server based printing, not peer to peer
