    Sharp MX-5141 mobile device printing

Just installed this new unit at the customer site and everything went great. Now, the customer wants to print from their iPad and iPhones. Primarily at this point they want to print email. Has anyone had success working this out? Airprint does not see the 5141 when I search from the iPhone and I cant figure out how to have Sharpdesk mobile print emails.

Does the customer have an always on PC or server? If so, install AirPrint or AirPrint for Windows on the server and share the printer through that. PS expansion may also be required, if it is not enabled by default.

      • Do you have the MX5141 setup for access point or infrastructure mode? Does the customer have a wireless network setup? With Sharpdesk Mobile once the Ipad or Iphone is on same wireless network as the MX5141 you go to settings Printer/Scanners find printers/scanners. App will locate the device showing the Model and Ip address.

The Sharp MX-5141N is Airprint capable. Just need to make sure to update it to the latest firmware, which enables the feature.

The Airprint firmware was released Jan 10th and is ver 02.00.R2

Thanks for the update. Been looking forward to the airprint option since I noticed that in the brochure. Can you imagine my disappointment during setup to find out airprint wasnt there? Now, I just need to figure out the process to get airprint working.

There's not much to do to set it up.

Just ensure that Airprint is enabled on the copier (Network Settings->Print Port Settings->Airprint tab).

After that, the copier and the iPhones or iPads need to be on the same network. The Apple devices should be able to find the Sharp copier and print to it.

If it's just basic email printing they are after, then why not get them to download the Sharpdesk Mobile App??
              Every connection leaves a trace.

Update your firmware and its enabled by default it shows as MX-5140 (serial number).

Sharp are still sending machines out with old firmware so as part of our install process we firmware them before they leave or when we set them up.
