I need to unblock scans from a Panasonic copier from being blocked by Mcafee firewall. I have attached a link that shows how to do it. It looks like its asking for the PCP and UDP ports. I'm not sure about this step or what ports are needed. Sure could use some guidance on this one.

Seriously though, the ports you need to open depend on whether or not you're looking at a domain or workgroup setting as well. Opening the AD required ports is never a bad idea anyway.
The ports are:
TCP 137
UDP 137
TCP 138
UDP 138
TCP 139
UDP 139
TCP 445
TCP 389
Ports 137-139 are for NetBIOS SMB, which is what most MFPs use by default because they're using the Unix Samba service to communicate with the Windows network. TCP 445 is the newer SMB port, or CIFS, that Microsoft started using with Windows 2000. To be safe, I'd try opening both ranges. TCP 389 is the LDAP service, which you'l want open in a domain environment so that the share can properly check permissions and valid access. -

What type of scanning are you trying to do? With McAfee, if it is a pull scan such as TWAIN, it is usually the software that is being blocked. You need to allow the software access in McAfee.
If it is a push type scan such as FTP or SMB, then you usually only need to allow file and print sharing.Comment

I am using the Panasonic Communications Utility. The utility will send the name for the key on the copier to display the name of the computer using UDP. When you scan from the copier to the PC it uses TCP. The name is showing on the copier. The issue is when you scan to the PC, it never makes it. If I turn off the Firewall in McAfee, I can scan all day. This is why I wanted to configure McAfee to allow it through. There is no twain in this situation. The utility works very well for the Panasonics.
I think it is similar to SMB, but not 100% sure. So what exactly would I do to enable file and print sharing as you suggested?Comment

Depending on the version of McAfee, you can add a network exception to trust and allow all traffic from certain IP addresses.
This is much better than simply punching hole through McAfee everywhere.Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.Comment
