cannot log in via web image monitor as administrator

    hello folks

i have just installed a ricoh mp 5002sp at a client but for the first time i was asked to insert in administrator and supervisor passwords as they required which i did otherwise i could not use any function of the copier ,

we also installed the printing features correctly ,now the dilema is when logging in via web image monitor so as to set up scan to email the usaual creditials are not accepted (user name Admin password blank) also the supervisor doesnt work

i also used the creditials i started with as the passwords

any ideas on what i have missed if so your help will highly be appreciated
    thanks

Well it should be admin and whatever you changed the password to on the first initial power up at installation (case sensitive).

You do need to cycle the power for the changes to take effect (but you shouldn't do so until the machine becomes idle and has finished initializing).

For the new machines they now ask for a password to be entered for the admin and supervisor usernames before setup, these can be left blank like all other Ricohs.

Re: cannot log in via web image monitor as administrator

I have a tech that finger f'd himself inputting the passwords.
I was able hack the passwords, but still won't let me in.
Is there a way to get it to go back to default?
Others have mentioned factory mode. I am sure it is different on the newer machines.

I slapped his hand and told him to keep it the same defaults.
If the customer wants to change it, it is on them to remember their password.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

No offence, but power cycle is to turn it off and back on correctly.

If you cannot recall the supervisor password entered, then you could be looking at new NVRAM(s).
If there is SP in factory mode it's not something I'm currently aware of.
All the engineers here are instructed to use a single default password for EVERYTHING we set up.

There are thousands of threads on resetting the admin password. If the supervisor is also changed the last resort would be to download the NVRAM, alter, and upload.

Make sure that administrative management through the web image monitor is enabled in the system settings on the MFP machine itself!

Also, I have found that under factory service mode (SP5846-046) executing this will clear ALL supervisor and admin passwords (and address book)!

                        CHEERS!

PS--if you do the reset in FSM, you shouldn't have to install ANY new NVRAM!
