Hello all, I have that uses the WIM to check toner levels edit address0bok etc. The issue is that sometimes at random they will go touse the WIM and it is not accessible it will not connect , and it will not even come up on the web browser. If we turn the copier completeley off and then back on it then works. The copier has been at the clients location for a few years with no connection issues. My company does not have access to Firmware anymore and im hoping that someone can help me out here . Any help would be appreciated.

There could be two devices on the same subnet with the same IP-adress. Also check if the IP-adress of the machine is in the lease list of the DHCP-server. If it is, remove it from the list. I assume the IP-adress of the machine is a static one? -

thanks for replying. I have already checked for a duplicate IP address. The IP address is set "static" on the copier.I reset the NIC and reapplied the nework setting back on the copier. All printing and faxing have no issues. Its an itermitent issue and the only way to get WIM to work again is to do a hard reset.Comment

Checking for a duplicate address is not enough, you will need to make sure that the IP address assigned to the copier is either outside of the DHCP range or part of the server reservation list.
It sounds like a portable device, phone or laptop etc, is set to the same address and only interferes when connected to the network. Either that, or a faulty cable / port.Comment

A problem that just started is most likely not firmware related. As ruben mentioned, you might be having a problem with a port on a network switch. I had a customer with a similar problem where full power down and restart of the MFP cleared the problem. The only difference was that they were also having problem printing. It would occur after the machine had been on for 10 or 15 minutes with no network activity to it. We replaced everything that had to do with the network on the MFP and were convinced that the problem was with their 3 year old switch. They finally swapped that machine with another. The exact same problem with the other machine and the original machine worked fine at the other location. They replaced the switch and no more problem.Comment

Re: Web Image Monitor Savin c2525
Both of those suggestions make alot of sense. I pretty sure the IP address is reserved by MAC but its worth rechecking also im going to see if we can switch the port on the network switch. This is at a university so getting their IT staff to do anything is close to impossible . should i be looking at anything else. Is there anything else to enable or disable on the copier itself that could be interfering with this issue. Also does anyone know of a utility besides Smart device Monitor that they can use as a workaround to WIM. These people are really picky and don't want to use Smart Device Monitor.Comment

Could be that they just need to shut the machine totally down more often on purpose.
Or you might want to look closely at the power provided by the outlet the machine is plugged into.
Not always, but most of the time if you shut a machine off when it has a problem and when you turn the machine back on it works properly, the problem isn't in the machine.
Good luck.Comment
