    Can MPC2551 scan to office365?

I have a bank that has 3 MPC2551 mfp's and one MPC3003. I got the MPC3003 working but the same config on the older machine won't work. Latest firmware was no help. The only difference I see is the newer machine supports newer versions of TLS. The IT guy is a bit of a jerk and is not a lot of help. I am not "the" connectivity person just a toner janitor. Does office365 require TLS v1.1 or higher?

The MP C2551 does not support TLS authentication for scanning to email. The are several workarounds, either set up an SMTP relay or you could set up a distribution group in Office 365 and add an external address that allows you to scan out via SMTP over port 25 or Ricoh do something called Integrated Cloud Environment (ICE) that will work but I've never used this.

Thanks Moza, that was my first thought. I still don't understand the ssl/tls relationship, some places use the terms as if they were interchangeable.

"TLS 1.0 was first defined in RFC 2246 in January 1999 as an upgrade of SSL Version 3.0. As stated in the RFC, "the differences between this protocol and SSL 3.0 are not dramatic, but they are significant enough to preclude interoperability between TLS 1.0 and SSL 3.0." TLS 1.0 does include a means by which a TLS implementation can downgrade the connection to SSL 3.0, thus weakening security"

Basically, SSL is NOT TLS, and office365 needs TLS to work, which the 3003 can do but the 2551 cannot. You could try installing stunnel which will do the TLS for you.

My IT contact with the bank finally found that O365 needs TLS v1.1 min. He set up a smtp relay on a local server to forward out to O365. You are right about the SSL vs TLS, I have had IT guys use them interchangeably in conversation, very confusing to a non IT copier guy like myself. I learn something every time I run into something like this so I guess there is a little gain from the time I spent working on it.
