    Lanier MP C2003

I have a customer who's running a peer to peer network utilizing a Windows 7 box as a server, he is adamant about not sharing the C drive on his "server" for SMB scanning. So I'm suggesting to hang a NAS on the switch for file sharing. Does anyone have any recommendations or warnings about any external hard drives they've had experience with.

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!

I set up a Folder called scans and just share it out.
Nobody can access any other folder but that one.
I have set up scan to folder on an external drive on a computer.
Just copy the shared path to the address book.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

For nas storage my opinion is Synology which is amazing and very stable. Comes in many different models from small to high end. I use one at home for all kinds of things. You have supply install your own hard drive in it. I use a two bay for Raid.

Check to see what version of the "server" is. Anything home can't even come close to being a server. They won't connect to a domain.

I recommend this cheap safe alternative for an archive drive on a file server.
        Fantom Drive GD3000U3 GreenDrive3 External Hard Drive - 3TB, USB 3.0, Plug & Play

        $120 plus shipping.
Reliable and no heat problems other externals have.
