[Misc] Canon IR 2200 - Can Fax Line be connected to an Answering Machine?

Recently retired, I have switched the incoming phone line from a dedicated one to my regular phone line.

Is there a way to set up an answering machine to this line/machine so that incoming faxes are automatically received?

And what about a regular voice caller not hearing Fax Tone signals once a connection is made?

Would appreciate being pointed to any reference material that might help me set this up:

Voice Caller -> phone Rings -> I answer
-> After 3 rings the Answering Machine cuts in
-> No Fax Tones get to the caller

Fax Caller -> phone rings -> Machine receives the fax

I do note that the back the machine has only the one phone line connection (labelled L) - there is no connection labelled "Extension"

    Thanks!

G3-J1 does NOT support a dual line option.

    other home connections
To ensure both your Answering Machine and Fax work hand in hand to receive messages and faxes, they must be connected to each other.

The telephone line port from the answering machine that is normally plugged into the wall jack should be connected into the EXT port of the fax machine.
Then set your answering machine to pick up on the 4th or lower ring count and the fax to 5 EXT TAM

      Thanks for this.
The Canon 2200 Copier/Fax machine only has the 1 Port labelled L
What if I plug the TAM (AT&T 1718) into the wall jack & then connect the EXT on the TAM to the L port on the Fax?
Could this set-up be made to work?
