IRA-8085 no halftones w PS Driver

Machine has been running great for a year or two and all of a sudden when using the PS driver (8085 has PS option installed not fiery) the halftones are not there. The UFRII driver works well but the quality and edge margins aren't as good as PS.

I've tried a few different PS drivers and reseated all ram and any other chip and connector on the main and dc controller I could find with no luck. It also does the same thing when printing from a USB flash drive - must use an internal PS driver?

Apparently there is no separate PS print board - its built into the main controller? Any suggestions?

You mean that for 2 years you were getting good halftones using PS driver and suddenly you don't see halftone anymore ?

If you can get halftones with UFRII driver - normally - you would have to see them in PS driver. PS driver is "better" than UFRII driver for halftones. IT gives you more control on the halftone settings.

I would start troubleshooting by making some halftone tests from Service Mode. This way you can be sure whether mechanically the device is performing ok.
Than I would play around with the settings on the PS driver, than try different drivers.

This is a similar issue to the one you have

              Problem :

Grey Scale Halftone blocks on imagePASS-U1 PS Test Page are barely visible.

Software was reflashed to the latest version for both the imagePASS-U1 and the imageRUNNER ADVANCE.

PG Test Prints Type 2 (17 Gradations) and Type 5 (Grey Halftone) from the imageRUNNER ADVANCE come out good.

imagePASS-U1 was taken to another imageRUNNER ADVANCE and the PS Test Page came out fine.

              Solution :
In this case, replacing the Hard Disk Drive in the imageRUNNER ADVANCE resolved the copy quality issue of light grey scale halftones occurring for network print jobs.

Part number for the Hard Disk Drive is FK2-9316-000.

(on another bulletin foramtting and reloading system software in the copier solved the problem)

Re: IRA-8085 no halftones w PS Driver

Thanks for all the suggestions. To clarify- yes, machine has had great quality until recently but suddenly the halftones are almost non-existent using the PS driver or printing from a USB flash drive. Off the glass and internal PG test prints are very good quality. Multiple PS drivers and computers (including my laptop) have produced the same results.

Customer doesn't want to pay for an upgraded fiery - looks like that may not fix it anyway if it's a system software or HDD issue.

I'll see if I can get a hold of system software or maybe just swap another HDD with firmware loaded on it already. I'll post results. Thanks again.
