Problem on Canon ir3245: Green light is on but not warming up.

    Good day to everyone.

I'm having a problem with our Canon ir3245 not warming up. When switching the power on, the green light indicator will light up but the machine seems to be not warming up. Also the lcd display is not showing. Anyone know the solution to this problem? Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Inspect supply and outlet voltage.Reset memory. Can you quickly drop in service mode to check any errors?
    Use sst and reinstall HDD.

Reset your boot rom, more important than memory. clean mem and boot rom contact with alcohol.

Boot rom is also a memory chip!

Thanks a lot, so the only problem is the hdd. It's now working fine. What are the causes of this problem so we can avoid it in the future?

          Best regards.

            imageRUNNER 3225 / 3230 / 3235 / 3235i / 3245 / 3245i
The imageRUNNER does not cycle and has a blank display with the green LED on.

            :'(
If this issue occurs, check to see if any of the LEDs on the Main Controller are lit. If none of the LEDs are lit, replace the Main Power Supply PCB Assembly. The part number for the Main Power Supply PCB Assembly is FM3-6145-000.

Main controller......usually loses remote signal, power supply won't start up without it. Changed a few

If The Main Controller PCB green led is off, try to replace the main controller.
If booting up and stuck to 1/3 of loading bar, I disconnected every other connectors on main controller. Then started to connecting it back one by one and turning the switch ON. I found that machine works when usb cable is disconnected.

I'm experiencing the same thing. 1/4 of the progress bar only.
Have tried 2+8 on boot but does not go into download mode.
I can see the scanner lamp take it's reference reading and hear some motors come into life, so I'm happy that the psu is ok. It's as if it goes through post then refuses to hand over to the firmware, as if it isn't there.
Unless someone has a good reason for the psu I'm gonna discount that. SMPSU's generally either work or die.
I'm going to try some of the suggestions like disconnecting usb from the main controller, but I'm looking at bootrom failure imo.
I know for a fact that the customer has a habit of just flipping the power switch to shutdown. They've been told about this but clearly it's still happening.
Ps. I am encouraging them to get a whole new device. I'm pretty much calling it as beyond economic repair. I'm just trying to salvage it for shits and giggles at this point.

Canons are notorious on some of their older (Pre ImageRUNNER Advance) machines, to where just reseating all the connectors on MCON and DCON fixes a LOT of strange, random issues. 99% of the time, that was the fix for me.

Power down and UNPLUG!! A tech I worked with forgot that 2nd step, and fried the DC Controller!!

did you read the past comments... the OP problem was fixed.....

besides that you have "piggy backed" on another's thread that is over 3 years old! ( a NO NO)
like I said this problem was fixed back then
