Discussion regarding Power related issues on the Canon Advanced series!?

Guys I'm hoping to start a discussion to chat about any power related issues you've seen on the Canon IRC2030 & IRC2230 series photocopiers. I have quite a few out there and I've noticed a higher frequency of systems going down do to power related Line issues. Even when on a dedicated line/circuit!

Are the copiers being built with weaker electronics thus being effected easier by dips (brownouts) in power.

I've had quite a few of these concerns lately and I'm trying to figure out if it's this specific series or something else!?!?!

Much appreciated and I look forward to reading your feed back.

    ?
    On dedicated line.

Did the electrician sign off a guaranted document , or did person just say it's dedicated.

Ran into this situation many times.
    Dedicated line/lines are expensive.
True test of outlet issues , is an actual line test monitor w\a print out that shows constant supply.

Unfortunately, the "good" testers can be quite expensive.

      Expensive, but required.

The worst you can do is buy a cheaper tester. Quite often, they will not show any issues, even when there are enough irregularities to cause a problem.

When the unit shows that power is "falsely" OK, you effectively short circuit, if you will, any attempt to prove to the customer that the problem is on their side. That, in turn, will send you off on a merry goose chase to find a problem elsewhere that doesn't exist.

We had this very problem with some new Ricoh machines recently at a school. Our el cheapo tester failed to pick up the problem. It got very ugly, to say the least.

Worst of all, the 4 year old Ricoh boxes we pulled out never had any issues. Only the new stuff had problems.

        Hi all,

Finding it more and more common with the new Advance C22xx series myself. Granted I haven't got many of the Generation 1 machines in the field but the ones that are seem to be doing just fine. The most recent Gen 2 machines that I have either display E020-0060 or E020-0360(which I have already fixed by replacing the DC controller but I suspect that the problem or also to do with power.
A particular customer we suspect has low power and this is causing the latter error but when brought to our workshop and tested it has given us no error codes whatsoever Weird...

Also before returning back to the customer had to change the Black drum as it was printing very light...Like the drum had been used for years and now it's back again and the same issue is recurring Anyone experienced that at all??

Found a lot of toner spilled in the front of the machine and even into the cassettes.

You could always try sticking a UPS in for the copier. They are fairly inexpensive and can sort a lot of problems out. I've found that power issues normally occur at the start of the day & lunchtime. (kettle on)

some UPS's cause false issues on Canon imageRunners , went through two/three manufactures (APC the worst one) to find one that works /

            point to note
U first need a properly dedicated > wired and grounded outlet

Re: Discussion regarding Power related issues on the Canon Advanced series!?

Interesting topic as I've been working on the advanced series from the get go. I had numerous pcb failures on the 5000 series especially. The controller boards seem to be more robust now then at first, numerous controller failures especially when they first came out. I've often wondered if there were issues with the manufacture and soldering at the plant where these are made. I have had a few situations where the power outlet at a customer site was prone to spikes or brownouts which would cause various errors, some just seemingly thrown at random. I'd say it's more of a concern with this series then the previous image runner series was. Most sales people and end users don't fully appreciate how important a dedicated line is, most see it as a obligatory caution that they casually ignore. The equipment today is more sophisticated from an engineering standpoint.

                Another point to note;

Static is a major concern on printer locations, especially when on rugs, and yes customers still place printers on rugs.

Hard to believe that techs work on back of printers with power plugs in outlets 😱,

Small static charges from person to PCB's= damaged boards.
Many pcb's are damaged by using wrong or makeshift meter leads shorting out nearby components.

I mostly get ghost image from that model and 2030's. The new itb unit helps. It comes with instructions on what to change. I kept my software up to date on all of those machines because of the jams on top tray and ghosting and I suspect the new software is more geared to the new ITB assembly update. I still am waiting on two more machines to call in that I have had problems in the past with ghosting. Black drums may last 50%. I have a lot of those machines. Replaceing the cpu pcb in the control panel fixes the slow or no response of touch screen.

Please can I have the new ITB part number if you have it? I have experienced the ghost image as well but never seemed to be able to get rid of it. Even after trying everything that Canon has suggested. Do the black drums only last 50% because of the ghosting??

FM1-F555-000. Instructions on new ITB belt setting inside and taking off the settings the tech pubs said to do. I think the drums don't last long because of the way they are made (everything in the drum unit).
