Saves and stores image data.\ Will clear Mailboxes
COPIER>FUNCTION>SYSTEM
CHK-TYPE Used to specify partition number when performing HD-CHECK or HD-CLEAR.
Operation method
1) Select this item.
2) Use the numeric keypad to select the desired partition number.
0: Check and restore all bad sectors on hard disk
1: Image storage area
2: General-purpose file storage area
3: PDL file storage area
4: Firmware storage area
- General-purpose files include user-set data, log data, PDL spool data, and management information for image data.
3) Press the OK key.
HD-CLEAR Initializes partition specified by CHK-TYPE item.
Attention:
- The following must be kept in mind and the user must be properly informed of the fact when using CHECK-TYPE:
0: entire HDD -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
1: image storage area -> removes image data
2: general-purpose file area (user settings data, various log data, PDL spool data, image data control information) ->
initializes files
3: PDL-related file storage area -> removes font data, requiring re-installation
4: firmware, address book, filter storage area -> no operation occurs (to initialize, use the SST)
Operation method
1) Select this item.
2) Press the OK key.
Attention:
If you perform <HD-CLEAR> after selecting 1 (image storage area) or 3 (PDL file storage area) for the <CHK-TYPE>
item, the initialization process is performed after the power is turned OFF/ON.
The initialization process takes about 5 minutes. A progress bar slowly advances to indicate the progress during this time.
Never turn the power OFF during this time.

Re: Clearing Mailbox Data
Backup Mailbox Data on the imageRUNNER Series
From the RUI (Remote User Interface) on some imageRUNNER models you are able to backup the mailbox contents or data.
1. Open the RUI by entering the IP address of an imageRUNNER in the address bar of a web browser.
2. Choose the Add. Func. (Additional Functions) button.
3. Choose Custom Settings.
4. Scroll down to Backup. Set up the correct Backup Destination Setting.
5. Choose Backup. Click [Execute] to start backing up the data in user inboxes. This will backup the data to a BOX folder where you specified in the Backup Destination Setting. Inside the BOX folder will be each mailbox number and contents. You cannot view the files at this point. You will have to restore the data back to the imageRUNNER to view the files in the mailbox.
6. From Custom Settings, scroll down and choose Restore. Click [Execute] to restore. All data in user inboxes will be overwritten when restarting.
7. Restart the imageRUNNER. You may see the following messages on the imageRUNNER LCD, please do not turn off power at this point. Remaining data is being erased, please do not turn off power. Restoring inbox data, do not turn off power. Then the imageRUNNER will reboot, shows the Wait... screen, let it complete and boot up. Now you will be able to check your mailbox and your mailbox contents will be there.

With the Remote UI you can save address books stored in the device to files and load address books from files into the device. This function is useful when you want to use an address book with a different device, or make a backup copy of an address book.
ImportantTo Load Address Books into the Device from Saved Files on a PC:
1. From the RUI, click the [Add. Func.] button, and select [Import/Export] from the menu.
* Note- If an ID has been set for the system manager, a dialog box for inputting the user name and password will appear. Input the system manager ID in the user name section and the password in the password section.
2. Click [Import...].
3. Select your desired options (see below) and then click the [Import on this criteria] button.
-Address book: Select the address book to be updated.
-Import method: Select the update method for the address book. Pick either:
* Append- The addresses in the loaded file are added. The currently registered addresses are not changed.
* Overwrite- The currently registered addresses are replaced with the addresses in the loaded file.
-File Path: Specify the file to be loaded.
-Format: Select the format of the file to be loaded. Pick either:
* Custom Format- Select this when the file is to be imported into imageRUNNER.
* LDAP Format- Select this when the file is to be used with different application software.
Note - Pick either Custom or LDAP based on how the address book was exported originally (i.e. Custom or LDAP).**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment
