Machine is running and working well. All of a sudden it will start running with no one around it. They even opened the side door and it kept running. Any ideas?

Turns out I was wrong. It grinds at start up when making copies. I think this thread talks about fuser drive grinding gears. I believe this is the issue:

In our office we have a "ghost" too
Each time smth is broken and no one claims it - we charge the "ghost"
