    IRC5030i black drum problem

    Hi guys,
I have one of these in the field that keeps giving a 2 inch faint band at the front edge running in feed direction ( black only ) Colours are fine. Looking at the black drum, you can clearly see wear in that area.
The drums used are Canon originals. Putting in a new drum fixes the problem but only last for about 10k.
Have replaced the black dev unit but still happens. It's costing me a fortune in black drum units.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Re: IRC5030i black drum problem

    Problem :
Drum surfaces were scratched causing premature replacements of the drums (all colors) in approximately 2k copies/prints.

    The following items where inspected:
The waste toner container for the flag on the right side of the container connected to the internal toner screw. The First Toner Screw assembly in the Process Kit Frame assembly; drives the waste toner from each cleaning station to the waste toner container for clogs. The drive assembly, located in the front right of the process kit frame just above the waste toner container flag, there should be a white flag (same as the waste toner container flag) attached to the end of the toner screw.

    Solution :
Replacing the First Toner Screw (FC8-3996-000) and the First Toner Screw Flag (FC9-7122-000) resolved the issue.

Thanks skynet I will check it out.
Not sure if waste toner build up is enough to wear the black drum.
Did you find the flag on the end of the WT screw broken.
