Canon IR3300 error after installing printer board

I just installed the printer board in the IR3300. It came up with an error E740-0003 which I'm told means that The LAN card cannot be read.

Some people at this website say I need some N firmware or something to fix this problem using a program called the SST. How can I get the 3300N firmware please? Thanks.

If you installed new printer board you have to install also the original COUNTER PCB and BOOTROOM from old printer board.

To upgrade your 3300 to 3300N you have to install the Service Support Tool (SST) to your pc or laptop then register your 3300N firmware. After installing you can upgrade your system to N but you have to make your bootrom also to N.

    I have SST version (3.21, 3.35E, 4.04Eq) and firmwares...

when you say 'printer board' what do you mean ?

      boot rom? main controller?

      to convert a 3300 to 3300n you need 'n' firmware & 'n' boot rom and lan/nic noard

I've got an n boot rom and nic board. I've tried connecting in the parallel cable for my printer to use sst and it doesn't work. How can I get an bicentronics cable? Is there another name for them that is more commonly used?

Also, if I upgrade to n firmware will the sst recognise that I have a 3300 and automatically install the 3300 version or is there a manual procedure I need to follow. If so, what is it.

never used sst before. I tried a different cable for a change. I read that parallel cables for scanners is one of the uses for IE1384 cables. So I took the parallel cable from 10 year old hopeless scanner and hooked it up between an old computer and the printer. I have now turned the photocopier into a printer/scanner (scan using Adobe Acrobat on a computer). It's wonderful. To think I spent $120 plus a day or two of work time setting it up instead of getting a new photocopier for $12,000. Wow, this is good.

Thanks for the help of everyone who has posted in this thread.

Thanks n2b, that is very interesting.
Could you now try a little experiment, please?
Switch on the printer with the new cartridges.
Start the reset tool. See if it runs (you should be able to read the ink levels and print a test page).
If that is ok, leave it running and re-install your old cartridges.
Now see if you can perform a reset.
You could also try only changing one cartridge at a time, because it may be that only one of them has been 'switched off'.
Let us know how you get on.
