Canon ImageClass MF8580cdw Will Not Receive Incoming Faxes

    Good Morning Guys,
I have a Canon ImageClass MF8580cdw that will send, but not receive faxes...I have it set to "auto answer" and "tone".
There is no answering machine or anything hooked into it (direct line from the wall jack", and when a fax tries to come in, it answers and the processing light comes on then just disappears as if nothing ever happended.
    Any ideas?
    Thanking you in advance.

    Hi Doug!

-Is this problem from only one sander?
-Test the line with another fax machine. If work ok then fax modem in 8580 is bad.If you have the same problem on both faxes then call line company provider.
-Check if you have fax cable connect in L
-You can try with slower speed. (14400)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

Had the same problem a week ago. Faxes received in memory and after error, sometimes get a report with #005 error, after turn off/on starts printing incoming faxes, not all the time. Funny thing was that an old Dell 3115, who was replaced by the Canon, worked every time with no problem and this confirmed that the line was good. I updated FW, changed TX speeds, change fax cable took machine to the shop and all tests was good. Turned out there was a fax server mounted on the same line that i didn't know about it and screwed my faxes. Before that on the same line i tested another Canon fax, L100, with same tx results. I wasted valuable time because of this fax server, at least the problem was solved, happy end.

Do you know how to tell if there is a fax server on the same line?
It looks to me like there is only one line coming out of the wall and that it is dedicated, but I cannot be sure....it is in a very large Church.
        Thank you

Hello there, it is the same problem from two different senders....same thing.
Maybe there is a fax server somewhere on the line?
Haha Thank you for you reply.

That customer had fax server installed in their IT room, in a server case. The role for this fax server was to store incoming faxes on a PC as a backup if there was a problem with their fax machine. They have some company that took care of their phone infrastucture in their building, they told me about fax server but they also say that the problem isn't from there
If there is no any hardware connected to your line make a claim to their phone provider or test with another trusted fax machine.

I allways hated the fax side in this job
