Canon IR3300 HD problems

ok i am trying to fix a HD problem here is the infos


orginal drive works well enough to boot machine but u can hear the bearing grind so i am trying to clone it

i have 1 IDE to laptop adaptor

1 orginal toshiba drive that boots the machine
1 wd 20 gb large ide drive
1 wd 80gb laptop drive
i am useing HDclone 3.6.2 for windows

it clones fine or so it seems no errors at all
when i plug the WD80gb in i get a 602-0001 if i plug the toshiba in it boots
i need to get this in as few trys as possible as i can hear the bearing grind and am afraid the drive will lock up and then im out $600 on a customers machine ($100 for the WD 80GB)

so what am i doing wrong?

Last week I had problems with iR3300`s HDD. I`ve tried to put back image from the original HDD to new one, but it doesn`t work. When I put the new HD it gave me error 602-0001. I`ve read around the forum and the solution was to re-install the machine`s software, which I have. There is a little trick with the program which is used to install the software but with some changes - no problem. So, install the software, don`t try with making image.

BUT before you can try using the 80gig HDD you need to modify the .itf file that sits in the iR2200 SST folder on your laptop.

I have a feeling that the 80gig drive may not work...I've had success using a 40gig drive but I think the 80gig drives failed.
We save the 80gig drives for iR2270 series.

we are trying to clone because
1. cant afford $500 thru cannon
2. we dont have SST

and i thought i saw on here someone got a 80 to work hmm will have to check

I`ve read that there is no problem to work with bigger HDD, but I used 30GB. Try to do it with image and if there is no result I will try to help you.

is there somewhere to get the SST and IR3300 files to redo the HD with? and why is my clone not working?

I don`t know why the clone is not working. Maybe in the boot rom is stored the information about the HD and when you put new one it is different model, etc. Write me an e-mail to send you the software.

all right i have all the tools and now when i try to update the system with the new hd it starts to write and fails
error code reads out block 2 so it sounds like its trying to write but cant

i keep seeing people saying edit a file and put hdd info in but i cannot find this file or a rom folder..... im sooo confused

i also only have 3 more days before the boss goes and buys the customer a new machine ($3000) as he is tired of this dam canon as he puts it

so what am i doing wrong?

if the software is a .iso file you need to extract the contents. In the HDFormat folder there is another folder and in that is an ift file with the hdds.

Maybe the problem is that you didn`t change the file in HDformat folder - the folders where are the system files for iR3300! I`ve send you a pdf where you can find more information about what to change and how.

ok all i need now is the fax rom for the 3300n and im all set anyone know where to get it?

Why did you update it? I gave you only the software which is placed on the HD. When I replaced the HD with new one I needed only HDFormat, System, RUI, Language - that`s all. I tried to update da boot rom, but "Incorrect version" displayed. And when I power on the machine - all works! And the settings were like before.

i finnaly got it!!! i had to use a drive thats on the list but it works now thanx to everyone that helped me im going to complie all the files i have that worked and make it avalible but it may take me a few weeks as we are busy busy ... new shipment of copiers to refurb
