    Canon IRC3220C Colour mis-registration.

    Hi, Guys,
When I do b/w copy its ok; but colour copying - all the three colours Y-M-C, will register at a different position, making a sort of colour aneurysm! Copier has made about 61,000 copies so far. I have taken out ITB, cleaned, lubricated, greased all the bushes & bearings in it; but . Can u pse help!!

You will need to replace the ITB Assembly. I had the same problem yesterday. I have had this problem a few times but once after replacing the assembly the copies were still blurred so i did a D-CON clear about 3 times and it was good then. Im just warning you in case it happens. You should be fine though. From memort the part number is FG6-5942

    Cheers Andy

Remove ITB belt clean inside of belt with soft cloth and alcohol, clean 3 long rollers belt rides on(because belt is slipping) Do a p-print from service mode. (func>misc-p) Then do the D-CON clear.(you will have to reinput values for registration and accesories) Run a cleaning cycle for transfer/main unit to reestablish settings. If this fails you may want to replace belt but shouldn't have to replace ITB ay.

        I agree with Othertech.
BEFORE you go to the expense of replacing the ITB assy...wash the ITB drive rollers inside the assembly.
DO NOT wash the foam transfer rollers....dry wipe them instead.
Wipe out the inside of the existing belt as well.
Make sure also that the ribs on the edge of the belt ride on the outer edge of the drive rollers when you put it back on or else the belt will wander.
Replace the belt if need be and DC clear if all else fails and if that's STILL no good then yes....try another assembly in the machine.

          color registration

if you have connections with a canon dealer, there is a mod for transfer belt and transfer drive assembly that takes care of your problem, it requires a change in gears and adding shims. Bulletin has all the info. i had the same problem and chased the issue for a 3 days till a friend told me of the modifications. Sorry i dont have the bulletin info.

            Hi guys,

            sorry for my english.
First of all it´s important, that you have cleaned the ITB-Unit (Rollers, etc..).
            Make a P-Print ( Service Menue ->Copier->Funktion->Misc-p =>P-Print.)
Go to SM->COPIER > DISPLAY > ALARM-2 check if you have an 34' error.
To reset the error ist not enough to make a DC-Clear. Please follow exact this steps in this order:
            1.:COPIER > FUNCTION > CLEAR ERR
            2.:COPIER > FUNCTION >DC-CON
            3.:COPIER > FUNCTION >ERROR-HIST
4.:check that the Alarm-2 is empty
5.:Switch off the Copier than on

with the Test-Page 6 you can test the missregistration very good.
Compare and reinput values from the P-Print to ServicMenue.

            Good Luck.

              Hi,

I have been away for a while, hence the delay in reply; came back went through all your suggestions. I did not replace ITB, but chose to do what rde recommended fist. Guess what, the machine is working now, good as new, and without changing ITB too!!

              Thanks guys, great work!

              resi.
