    Canon Imageprograf 800 MFP

    Hello to all.
I have a Canon Imageprograf 800 mfp and we are trying to secure the machine using CAC (Common Access Card) / PIV (Personal Identification Verfication) and no where on the Canon website commercial or E Support does it mention on how to install this solution or if this model is compatible. When I go to the Canon website and you go thru motions to get to support for the IPG series I am directed to Camera Specifications. Any help in this matter would help. We have all of the Xerox, Canon and KM MFPS, secured, but for some unknown reason they want to CAC enable the one user for the IPG. This model has the workstation on it. I know that some of you tech savvy guys/gals have a solution

    Thank you

If nobody else has anything easier or more intelligent, you may have to take a somewhat more direct approach. Like if their CAC device has the ability to act like a switch, you might need to wire it in series with one of the cover safety interlocks or something. We wired coin boxes in series with the paper cassette empty sensors on microfilm reader printers back in the day. Worked pretty well too, although probably not secure enough for your application as when I serviced those units I just disconnected the coin box and jumpered the connector with a paper clip.
I really hope someone else has something smarter to share. Sorry for wasting your time.

Google for "Elatec" and "TCPconv2" they have solutions for printers not supporting cardreaders/PIN :
