Canon IR C5185 - Send setup

I have a Canon Imagerunner C 5185 and am trying to setup the send feature so I can scan documents and send them to my computer.

After watching some videos on line I went into the Add Features
    Address Book Settings
    One touch buttons
    Select a button (002)
    Register and edit
    File
    Typed a Name for Button
    Changed protocol to Windows (SMB)
    Browse
    Select Workgroup
    Down arrow on right
List of computers on network displayed and I choose the computer I want to send to
Clicked on Down Arrow on right
Entered Username and Password (it was accepted)
There displays folders on that computer
Selected Folder to place scanned items
    Clicked on OK
Done all the way out to main screen
    Placed document onto scanner
    Chose Send
Chose One Touch Button I just created
    Clicked Start
It scanned - then said Sending - Then Resending - Then message on bottom of screen said Check Server
Printed transmittal report with copy of document on it.
I went back to my computer and nothing was there.

How can I see my computer on the copier screen, which tells me they are networked, allow me to put in the username and password (I know it accepted it because I tried putting wrong username and password and it was rejected)
I can choose the computer and folder but it somehow can't sent the file to the computer.

I need to get this fixed so let me thank you ahead.

    Any help appreciated.

Which S.O. are you using? Did you disable the Firewall? The anti-virus firewall has to be down also. The shared folder need to have writing permissions.

Replace servername with IP adress, usualy works better than relying on DNS. Does the log of the server report any attempt to acces ?

We had a problem after some updates on a server, SMB totaly refused to work ever since.... sec. level was way to strict for the copier to pass.. Configured to FTP to the server, that worked only after an exception for the copier IP in the firewall...

Unfortunately I do not know how to reply to all the answers so I am replying to each one separately. Thank you for your help. I had not thought about this idea.

              Hello Everyone:

Ok I did as you suggested. It turned out to be the file sharing issue. I created a new folder and shared it correctly and immediately I could scan to it.

Thank you for all your help.
