Canon IR 1730 IF Help with splotches / dots on page please

    Hello,

We have a Canon IR 1730 IF copier that is putting dots/splotches on our copies and prints. It does it on both, so we ruled out the scanner part. It starts across the top of the page and then becomes more random around the page during the day.

We have run the clean cycles from the menu, cleaned everything we can see to clean, replaced the toner, drum and fuser with genuine Canon parts. Its the same as it was before replacing all of these items. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!

Have you tried cleaning the transferroller ?

    1 Press (*) (Additional Functions)
    ➞ [Adjustment/Cleaning] ➞
    [Transfer Roller Cleaning].
2 Press [Start] to start cleaning the
    roller.
    To quit, press [Cancel].
    NOTE
    The cleaning process cannot be
canceled once it begins. Please wait
    until it is completed.

On a 1750 i've had trouble with the deleveoper giving lumps of toner...

      Hi Johan,

Thank you for the information. We had already tried that. I tried it again per your instructions and there are still spots on the pages. Any other ideas?

Look at the magnet roller in the developer. You can take out the drum and look to see if you see buildup. Wipe the roller with a clean cloth. Sometimes you have to scrape off the toner build up. I use a metal ruler. That roller needs to be free of any substance so a clean cloth is required. I have scraped plenty of toner clumps that harden off the developer rollers.

So it's a IR17xx problem the developers ? I've only had to do one 1750, and it's not my favorite printer. Give me 10 IR20xx's instead of 1 ir17xx to fix....

Most of my 1730's run very good. I have a dirty plant that replaced all the 2525's with 1730. I did not even go there for the first year. I don't get many problems with the developers. Just have had problems like described on many different low end machines. Big glob of melted toner on the magnet rollers in developer that causes moving spots/marks.
