[Misc] Canon IR Adv 8205 PRO with Booklet finisher

    Hi all,

    Pg5_IRA8205 PRO.pdf

Please the attached sample of print for this machine.
I am stumped now as to what the problem is, have changed the following:
    1. All the High Voltage boards (Primary HV, Dev HV, Pre-transfer HV)
    2. Primary Charging unit and Pre-transfer charge unit
    3. Transfer belt
    4. Drum and complete drum unit
    5. Transfer HV PCB
    6. Main Drive driver PCB Ass'y
    7. DC Controller PCB
    8. Relay PCB Ass'y
    9. Both DC Power supply 24V boards

Please can someone, anyone give me a clue as to what might be the problem???
I haven't swapped laser unit as yet as I don't have one...never had a laser unit fail though.

End of year and customer is not happy as you can imagine!!

    Regards,
    Ben

Ok so laser unit is not the problem. Tested and working on another machine ok.

I'm sure along with all those parts replaced you cleaned the laser sight glass?

Here's a tech pub for light copies due to dev bias but I think the copies would be light all over if this was the problem:

        Hi ReproKev,

Yes...checked and cleaned the dustproof glass. Haven't checked the Dev HV contact though! I did actually change the whole Dev unit which I think I forgot to mention
I'm inclined to think it's a setting in the machine as I'm sure someone was fiddling around with Service mode settings but not sure...do you think a DC Con clear would help at all?

        Thanks

I am fairly positive it is not a setting as you are light on the rear side have checked wire height on primary corona, how about tension on grid wire. what are your counters at on parts replacement. what is the total counter on machine

Yes, the wire height has been checked...would that have not been resolved by changing the primary charging unit??
The parts have been changed within specs of manual as the counter has increased. It's on about 1.2 million

I can't think of a service mode setting that would cause front to rear density difference. Usually it's primary corona, transfer, developing, laser sight glass or dirty exposure lamps (older machines).

Has any of the things you've done made any difference at all? Is your sample a copy, or print? Does a pg5 test print show a large difference front to back?

I know you replaced both, but try adjusting the primary height on 1 side to see if makes a difference or flip the drum front to back.

Thanks for the suggestions! I managed to sort it out today and all I did was do a DC Con clear and the first print I did was perfectly fine
I don't know what settings were changed but I'm very relieved that it's working again!

That fixed it? Hopefully it don't come back. I've seen the dev contacts cause this. Not the ones on the dev housing,,,the ones on the machine. Sand and bend
