    Add scanning to IR 5570

I have an ~10 year old imageRUNNER 5570. At the time of purchase, we did not value the option to be able to scan. However, our business needs have changed.

I have reached out to our vendor, however, they are unable to get parts.

It is my understanding that I need to install a Universal Send Kit-D1 (0382B002AA).

Are there any licensing concerns, or can I acquire the hardware and slap it in? For example, I was considering purchasing this board: 0382B002AA - ePartsRoom | Used Canon Copier Parts & Accessories

    Will configuration be straight forward?

    Any insight is appreciated.

      That is a bummer.

However, I was not aware of the Twain support. What interface is that available on? I do see a network jack, but I assumed it was inactive.

Download "color network scangear 2" from canon website and you can scan using the network interface

I'll give that a shot. I hope it still applies since I don't have the print interface either. The manual seems to indicate it does.

            Sadly, no dice.

I plugged in the network connection. The copier picked up an IP, and responded to pings. I was able to access the HTML status page.

However, ScanGear, was unable to discover the device. When I specified the IP, it said the scanner was not connected.

The copier does not have the printing card either. To date, it has lived an isolated life, with occasional fax. However, it does have a Scanner tab, with an online/offline toggle.

Any other advice to get it to scan?

you need to switch the device to online in the scan tab for scan gear to see it.

I think you need to try the regular network scan gear for that machine not the color.
