    [Jamming] Double feeds (8585 / 8285)

    Hi

I have customer experiencing intermittent mis-feeds and double feeds.

Their A4 paper is pre-printed and fairly dusty making the rollers go smooth and lose grip. (that is problem, I know it, they know it).

I see the side deck has the DK1-PKLV adjustment for the pickup pressure, and there is also a physical spring adjustment for the sep roller pressure.

Does the main machine trays have any of these type of adjustments?

If its pre-printed it probably has talc or cornstarch on it. Its used for drying with offset presses. Tell them to fan paper thoroughly before loading to get rid of some of the drier. Other than that nothing you can you. If you start tweaking stuff you could cause other problems. They have to register it as letterhead. Don't get their expectations up...tell them to talk to the supplier of their letterhead to complain. Printers use excessive drier so they can run the press faster

I did manage to reduce the amount of double feeds down by fanning the paper when I was on-site supervising a 30k run they had on.
But you know what customers are like when ask them to do something more than they think they should do, in one ear out the other lol.

I've noticed the orange sep rollers on these canons are smooth and have no grip to begin with.
They clearly rely on the nip band pressure to stop the next sheet passing.

But they need to understand that they are not running plain paper and this is necessary to run properly
