    Repair Canon IPF8300 how to

    Hello

I have a IPF8300 with some errorcodes. It shows 2F49, 2F50 and 2F51. I know this means in first the printheads and they have been replaced. Anyhow, all I have to do is to restart the printer 3-4 times and then the error codes disappear and the printer makes perfect prints for hours. See film

The error always appears the second the carriage is about to start moving after a print has been sent to the printer.

Looking in the service manual, the error code sequence fix is according to image below.

Anyhow, I have bought a "spare" printer that Canon has tried to fix, all cards are new, so I can pick parts from this. But before tearing my almost functional printer apart, what should I do first?

If I were you, I would remove the carriage relay PCB from your parts machine and take it with you when you replace the heads.

If you keep power cycling the machine - and depending on the machine firmware - there is a risk of blowing the carriage relay and/or the main controller if one of those heads finally give up and short.

If the customer uses the machine a lot, the cost of printheads isn't as bad when they consider the usage they get from it.

I've had a few calls for printhead replacement due to these codes. Sometimes the relay board gets toasted - pain the ass to get it out, you have to basically remove all covers like in your scrap machine picture.

    Good luck

I recently came across a similar HV power issue. In the end I had to replace the Printhead, Carriage, Main Controller and Power Supply all at once. From what I hear it can be common for each one to take out the other when concerning HV issues. If replaced individually the failed ones can destroy the replacement. Good luck!
