Canon iR C7065 - E00004-0701 Error code

The tech said he has already replaced the fixing fuse and the relay boards per the service manual, but the Error E0004-0701 comes up after reset. Replaced fuser also.

1. Check the fixing belt -> if it is damaged, replace the
fixing belt unit
2. Check the connection of the fixing fuse PCB ->
replace the fuse PCB
3. Check the connection of the fixing thermoswitch (TP2)
(thermoswitch is OFF, or the cable is disconnected) ->
replace the fixing belt unit
4. Relay PCB replacement
5. DC controller replacement
6. IH power supply replacement


NOTE: After performing the above remedy work, go
through the following to clear the error: COPIER>
FUNCTION> CLEAR> ERR

I have seen a scrap of paper in the connector cause this. When you first turn on the machine quickly go to the analog mode and see if it is heating up. I have also seen paper get caught up in the rear connector and when the customer slammed the section shut it broke the rear connector out. Not easy to get to the rear connector.

Title : E004-0701

Problem : After a power surge, the copier displayed an E004-0701. Replaced the induction heating assembly, upper fixing and lower fixing assembly with no change. Replaced the induction heating pcb, AC relay pcb, both DC power supplies, fixing frame connector and wiring with no change. Solution : In this scenario replacing DC controller interface pcb (FM3-9571-000) resolved the error code.

e004----as stated above---first >check the integrity of the Fixing Drawer and Rear connectors, FM4-1378-000 and FM4-1282-000/ for any scrapes of paper-------



Due to the design of the circuit, either of the two connectors shown in the photo below can be used to connect to the Fuse PCB.

In the photo, the left connector is attached directly to the Fuse PCB.



The question usually comes up if both connectors are unplugged at the same time as shown in the photo below and how tell which connector goes where.


The fuse on the fixing unit is part of a safety circuit.


The fuse is in series with the thermo switch in the center of the upper fixing
belt assembly. If the belt rips or tears the thermo switch lifts upwards and comes
into contact with a ground plate that causes the fuse to blow.


The 12 volt DC signal is an on/off switch to the A/C driver PCB. If the 12
volt line goes off it shuts off the A/C power from the A/C driver PCB to the
fixing unit.
If the thermo switch blows or opens it also shuts off the 12 volt
signal to the A/C driver PCB. The 12 volts is generated by the Relay PCB at
J1813 Pin 1.
If the fuse or the thermo switch opens there will be no 12 volts
returned through the circuit at J1813 pin 2.
This will generate an Error code of E004-0701.

After fixing the problem this error needs to be cleared in service
mode > Copier > Function > Clear > Error.


The part number for the fuse PCB is FM3-9604-000, FIXING FUSE
PCB ASSEMBLY, the part number for the upper belt unit is FM1-G184-000,
UPPER BELT KIT.
