I have recently purchased a clc1100 it worked fine for awhile and then posted error E071, called tech who brought out a new transfer drum to help eliminate it being sensors or signal plate. this did not work so he reset the dimm chips this did not work and now when it comes on it says insert key which is and turned on. He believes it is now either the dc driver board or main cpu. So I now found a used clc1180 set it up made alot of copies found that the finishing rollers were scratched so i changed out the carriage with the 1100 as well as the transfer drum. all worked fine for a few days now i am getting error message 071 again with F000 detail which means that the sensors are not responding in the transfer drum Tried switching out the carriage again but message still appears. I found that the connectors could cause this how do i go about checking them or replacing them. I have a service manual for the machines. Also I have been using a magnetic tip screwdriver to remove screws this couln't be the problem?? Any info would be great Thanks

Product : CLC 1100 / 1120 / 1140 / 1150 / 1180
Title : E071/0001 Code occurs Intermittently while Copying.
Error :
E071 / 0001 Code.
Workaround :
One of the possible areas to look at should be the HVT Cable connection to the Attraction Brush assembly inside the Transfer Drum. A poor connection or short between the Cable and the Block will generate a E071 / 0001 code.
Note: this sympton can also cause 0150 and 0350 Jam Codes. -

Title : 'Insert Key' Message is Displayed even though the Key is Inserted. Problem :
"Insert Key" message is displayed even though the key is inserted.
Solution :
Even though the key is inserted and turned on, a loss of 5 volts to the DC/Driver will cause the message to be displayed. Check the Fuse (FU904) on the DC/Fuse PCB which completes the 5 volt circuit to the DC/Driver. If the Fuse is blown replace the DC/Fuse PCB.Comment

And last but not least:
Product : CLC 1100 / 1120 / 1140 / 1150 / 1180 Title : E071 / E072 displayed Error :
With age, the transfer drawer connector becomes more prone to poor connection and breakage. In some cases, communication failure with the main unit results in error E071/072 being displayed.
Workaround :
Replace transfer drawer cables.
Note:
1. In machines that predate the factory countermeasure, the transfer drawer cables cannot be replaced on their own because the cables and the transfer drawer connector are joined together.
2. There are two 3 pin connecters in front of the transfer cables. Connect the connector with the relay connector to the separation sensor and the connector without the relay connector to the transfer cleaning motor connector. If these are wrongly connected, the DC driver PCB may be damaged.

Thank you so much for your response. I have checked fu 904 and found that it must be blown although it does show a little current going through it can you simply replace the fuse? As far as error e071 when i turn on the machine it will warm up clean the wires then when it rotates the drums it will go around a couple times then disengage and shoot error E071 f000 I will check the connectors on the transfer drum although it will do this with both drums when switched out, mabey both are bad. I am also looking into the drawer cables and make sure they are connected properly and may end up replacing them. Any way to test these boards to determine if they are bad (DC driver and CPU) Thanks againComment

Test the 9v/5v/12v pins to make sure that they're present and then check that there's AC going IN to the boards.Comment

Ok, so I have switced out the drawer connectors and made sure that the 2 connectors were attached properly I got a E006 which pointed to the connectors. Turned them around and it went away. The machine will warm up with no problem but when the drum begins to turn it will go for 10 seconds and then spit the E071 F000 my manual says:
F000 The side A sensor, side B
sensor, or C sensor does not
detect the signal plate within
10 sec after the operation to
lock the transfer drum has
This is all inside the transfer drum do you mabey have any other thoughts on how to resolve this problem. Also as far as testing the connectors on the boards can I simply remove the connectors when the machine is on or should they be disconnected before starting the machine and which ones in particular should I be looking at in relation to this problem?
