    CANON iR5570 e001-1

Abnormal heat detected, Sm and subcode 1 points to bad main and sub thermistors + possible short contact leakage

Machine have 1.420k of copies.Sub and main therm. changed on 500k. Didn't replaced them since. I tried to clear error code bud after boot error 001 is displayed.

Replaced sub and main therm. but didn't help. As in remedy i cleaned static eliminator and checked all the connector except on PCB board.

After few times of dismantlement machine started to work! but i had constant jams at registration roller. When i switched machine off and on again i got e001 again!??

What could be possible reason for this Please advise further since im out of options

    THX ahead

I'm assuming you've checked to see if the retaining rings of the UFR haven't snapped?
It's a really common fault in the 5570 range.
Also I went to a machine with the same code and it turned out to be the fixing roller drive gear...or more correctly..the metal of the UFR itself had split and this made the cut out for the gear(52T) expand.
The gear is keyed to fit into a slot in the fixing roller and the split was at the base of the keyed section.
It caused the gear to pop out of it's keyed area and whilst the gear continues to turn normally, the fixing roller does not turn causing uneven heat readings from the thermistors and thermoswitches.
Swapping in a new fixing roller(and gear if required) solved this particular issue.
And dismantling the fuser is the only way that you can check for this issue.

So we at least know that the error code CAN be related to the fixing roller and/or it's drive mechanisms rather than any electrical faults with the thermistors and thermoswitches.

E001 and jamming at reg roller along with symptoms changing as you described sounds like a small piece of paper in the connector for the fuser or the bed. Look real close at the connectors on the inside rear frame and also on the bed. I have found this to cause this type of problem many times.

THX guys on replay! I will go and check the machine tommorow in a morning and hoping this problem will be uncovered for us all since its an strange problem.

My last option would be an IH heater to check before posting for help but not the fix gear and roller ( u saved me a lot of truble )

ONE BIG THANKS FOR OZE and MTECH

        Will post back!

Oke I inspected whole fixing assembly and after finding nothing i took whole assy and put it in another ir5570 machine.

I was working flawlessly! sh*t...this will point me then to the PCB or cables.
One little request if possible. What number are CN ports of thermistors on PCB board?

            Edit:

problem was solved by replacing cable from Shutter HP sensor and the HP sensor itself !

            Sensor: PS53

Problem about constant paper jam is strange.
Paper is jaming before reg rollers or after the corona. Its an 50-50 chance.
Bypass is working normal whit A4 or A3.
Paper decks 1 and 2 jamming.
I cant copy any of A4 or A4R but I can copy A3 without problems.!
I switch tray 3( A4) whit tray 4 (A3) and tray 4 witch is now A4 starts to jam!? And tray 3 start to work. WTF?

I inspected machine for any leftover paper but couldn't find any.

This same problem on this machine was a month a go but i restarted machine and problem was gone

I mean this machine work like a charm

One thing to watch closely with the iR5570/6570 series machines is the wall voltage and voltage between ground and neutral. Because of the inductive heating the copier is quite prone to error codes with the fuser if the power is inadequate. That may be why you found that the fuser worked well in another machine. Check the source voltage and votage between ground and neutral It should be less than 5V ac. Best yet put a line monitor on line. Best recommendation is to have a dedicated line to the copier.
