    C3200 firmware update procedure?

    Hi;

We have a C3200 Canon that is jaming when duplexing. We have swapped out all the hardware, but keep getting 2 sheets of paper jamed together in the duplex unit.

We swapped a duplex unit and dc controler board.

We suspect a firmware bug. We have the firmware, and the software, but need the procedure to do the update.

Does anyone have a simplified step by step procedure for this?

    Thanks Jim

    You swapped the DC?....
    Why?
When you have an issue...it's probably wise to post here PRIOR to swapping parts..especially if you have to purchase them.
Did you try swapping the Duplex driver pcb?
Coz I'll garrantee that's where the issue is.
If you followed the flow chart and circuit diagram you'd have seen that all roads point to the Duplex Driver PCB.
    Give that a try.
As for updating the system software it's a straight ethernet connection using SST.
Only iRC2620's use a USB key to update the system software.

If you are getting a jam every single time you duplex , check the continuity of the fuses on the fuse PCB. If its not every time you might try posting the jam code. Extremely unlikely to be software related,

      Cheers Andy

Ahh yeah...forgot the fuse pcb Oz...
Between those two boards I think they'll find an answer

We had an old machine we swapped parts from, so we didn't buy anything yet.

          Thanks! Jim

Yes, it jams every time you do a duplex copy.

This info is for the C3200 Canon, right? Is there a duplex board, or is it inside the duplex unit? Are the fuses replaceable, or do you have to swap a board there too? (Don't make sense, but then....)

              Thanks Jim

                Dear Jim,
I've had it plenty of times when the duplex board blows and it takes out the ceramic fuse on the fuse board. Replace the fuse ( off the top of my head I think it is a5A ceramic) if you cannot source the ceramic fuse I have used an inline fuse ( Like in a car radio) and this has got me out of trouble. The fuse is not a Canon part( Canon will want you to purchase a fuse board) but they can be sourced from Electronic Shops.
                Regards

not exactly sure where your jam is located but right under the fuser is a plastic paper guide that warps from heat and bows down into the paper path new style guide has a metal brace. also in the dalivery door you see a guide that has a bunch of small rollers , remove that guide I belive its just one screw , to expose a mylar strip that gets torn up. that mylar acts as a devertor and has to be there
