[Misc] canon imagerunner advance c3325i g1 finisher issues

a couple issues... when finisher installed in the machine... the following occurs
    machine boots...
    you make a copy...
copy comes out... finisher starts making a banging noise...

with finisher not installed machine runs beautifully...

    once finisher not installed...
    tech began testing finisher...
    noticed the following...
    1. the belt on the bottom of finisher... can be made to produce the banging sound...( the belt that drives the stapler unit back and forth...)
    2. stapler unit will not move except for a small distance...
    3. I can get it to move further by positioning the stapler unit so it passes through the paper catches... but only to a certain point and no further...

tech got so caught up in troubleshooting... forgot to write down error code ...

    tech is wondering the following...
    1. is there a release button so the stapler unit moves freely...?
    2. could the stapler unit have gone off some kind of railing system... it keeps hitting the metal catch for the paper...???

first time messing with canon finishers...
    any ideas would be appreciated...???
