Auto Gradation frequency on a Canon iRADVC2230

Customer has had an IRADVC2020 for quite awhile but recently purchased an IRADVC2230 from us. They commented that it seems to go into auto gradation adjustment more often than their older machine. Other threads on here mentioned checking Introt settings. I did a comparison and both were defaulted at 500. Another mentioned cleaning the patch sensor. That was for an IRC3100. Just wondered if there was any other settings I can check for this newer machine. It has all new drum units in it. Just have not had a complaint of this nature. Is is possible that the newer machine intentionally activates auto gradation more often to maintain
    better copy quality?

    Perfectly possible !

Newer machine with different precision on the environment sensors may behave different to the previous generation.

In fact, the x2xx series is more stable in CMY greys...and I bet this is because the AGA runs more frequently and uses more intermediate density values for the patches.
