IRADV C2230 Intermittent Black Background

Copier is making a black background intermittently. I have replaced the drum unit and it seemed like that

took care of it. Anyone had this problem with this model?

Compatible toner will do it every time.

make sure that black drum metal plate is in touch with the metal spring(ground connection) that you can see in the picture.11black.JPG

Yes. Drum the cause. Replacing should resolve the issue, also maybe clean the exterior of the laser unit aswell (be careful when removing cables and unit as it can be easily damaged.)

The problem is not the black drum, the problem could be the metal spring that is front of the machine, this metal spring has to be in contact with the drum on the metal part, on the right side of the drum board.....

Another possible cause, however drum was changed and according to original poster, resolved their issue

I switched laser units and installed new drum unit. I checked that metal contact for the drum. Cleaned toner off of it.

Thanks Ernesto!!. Just waiting to see if the problem is solved. Of course it was not doing it when I was there but there was a lot o

of toner on the top of the black drum. Possibly defective, so I replaced it.

Follow up on this thread. Copier was making background with all colors. Some solid and some just bars.

Put a dc controller in it from another machine and the problem has went away. Hopefully this is a done deal.
