    Canon 3220 server unit problem

    Hello people,
I bought used Canon clc3220(it says 2620 on the test page) 10 days ago.
Unit looks very nice and seller show me that page counter made only 36.000 copies
Copies are very good. but I have a problem with connecting to my PC.
One expert connected copier with PC and I managed to print and scan, but it sometimes works, sometimes don't. Last 5 days I managed to do it only once.
Now I cant enter in printer setup, every time I try, see a message on display "Wait a moment (Check the power source of this print server behind the main unit and cable connection if the display does not change in a moment)" , I saw this message before, but after several restarts it worked, last 3 days it doesn't help.
    I tried a following:
1.Reconnected cables -cross network and SCSI cable
2.Turned machine on/off (both copier and server unit)
Gyu who sold a copier to me is now abroad, and he will not come in Serbia until January, so I cant get help from him.
In my town, we don't have good technician for Canon since one came to my office and said that copier work, so he don't see a problem, and asked me why do I need scan and print.
With this unit, I got one CD but is only printer guide.
In attachmet, i upload test page and printer setup from few day ago, while everything worked.

Sometimes works and sometimes does not is usually a duplicate ip. Ping it with the cable plugged in and then unplug it and ping.

does the Fiery (server) have a config page? check to see if it has a static IP address ( turn off DHCP ).. that could be why it doesn't always scan and print

clean your scan glass on the machine you scanned these docs on... there is something on the scan glass ( fine lines on pages )

From a pc. I looked at your setting page again and is says it is a fiery. You should still be able to ping the fiery. I don't have one of those machines but usually if you have a fiery you have to have that set up in the service menu. I think you have it set up or you would have never have been able to print. If you can not ping the fiery then that may be why you can not print either. Reading the next post you do have a static ip address. instead of 192.168.1.5 try something further away like 192.168.1.65. That eliminates something at that ip setting. Try turning fiery off (if it has an on and off switch or if it is a computer turn that off and back on.)

Re: Canon 3220 server unit problem

I will try this tomorrow since in Serbia is 23:00hrs.
The main problem is that my copier doesn't see a fiery, so I cant enter in his setup.
But I listed forum and looks like I made a mistake when powering units on/off, I turned it OFF on black side button where is the main power button.
1.Should it be turned off on the green button on the front panel and then on the main power button?
2.Do I make mistake when turning off fiery every day on the end of the shift(also on main button-but it is the only one on it)?
            Thanks in advance.

yes turning off the fiery in the wrong manor can scramble the data on the hard drive. I would leave it running unless you have poor power conditions in the building.

All Color Enabled imageRUNNER Models, All imageRUNNER iR Series, All imagePRESS Series

Title : Properly Shutting Down the imageRUNNER-iR Series Machines
                        Question :

How do I properly shut down the imageRUNNER-iR Series and imagePRESS Series machines? What is the proper shut down procedure?

                        Answer :

These models have a Shutdown Mode function that should be used before powering off the machine. Shutting the machine down properly will help protect the data on the machine's hard drive. Use the following procedure:
                        1. Enter Shutdown Mode by either of the following methods:

I - Press Additional Functions > Common Settings > Shut Down Mode.

                        OR

II - Hold down the ON/OFF power button on the machine's control panel for 5 seconds (NOT the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body).

                        2. The Shutdown Mode screen will appear on the machine's LCD screen. It will display the processes currently running on the machine.

                        3. Press the Start button on the LCD screen to begin the shutdown process.

                        4. Wait until the shutdown process finishes. When it is finished, the following message will be displayed:

'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side).'

                        * Forced Off Option - If the shutdown process is taking too long and you must power down the machine as soon as possible, you can press the Forced Off button on the LCD screen. This will stop the finishing process of the hardware and/or updating of the device data. The 'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side)' message will appear almost immediately. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It is best to let the shutdown process finish before powering off the main unit.

                        * The newer machines will power themselves off at the end of this process. There is no need to use the power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

                        5. Turn off the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

Re: Canon 3220 server unit problem

Try re-seating connector, memory interface cables between Copier and imagePass and also HD cable of the imagePASS.

Unlike its predecessor, the imagePASS C1 version 2 power is controlled by the copier main power switch.
This is accomplished by the inclusion of a PCC circuit in the imagePASS, installed between the power supply and mother board.

To install and power on the imagePASS C1 version 2 use the following procedure:

                          1. In service mode set Copier/Option/Int-Face to 3.

                          2. Power off the copier and install the Open Interface pcb that comes with the imagePASS C1.

                          3. Connect the ethernet cross over cable and the centronics cable from the imagePass C1 to the copier.

                          4. Connect the imagePASS C1 power cord to the wall outlet and turn on the imagePass C1 power switch. (The power led and fan on the imagePASS C1 will come on momentarily then go off).

                          5. Turn the copier main switch on, within approximately 30 seconds the imagePass C1 will power on.

                          -------------------
                          imagePass C2
Please Wait, Check power and cable message

If you encounter this problem at the time of a new installation check the following items:

                          1. Make sure Img-Cont is set to 3 in service mode Copier/Option/Int-Face.
                          2. Make sure the DIP switches on the imagePass are both in the down position.
                          3. Check the cables used to connect the imagePass to the copier.
There are two cables included in the box with the imagePass, one a cross over cable and the other a regular patch cable.
The cross over cable is shorter than the patch cable, you can use these numbers as a reference:

Regular Patch Cable: FK2-2281-000, long cable, goes from imagePass to customer LAN.
Cross Over Cable: FK2-2279-000, short cable, goes from imagePass to side of machine.

Tip, there should be a link light on the imagePass when the correct cable is plugged into the G1/C2 printer RJ45 connection. Also the two digit display on the imagePass must read 00 indicating successful hardware boot.

How to Determine if an imagePASS C1 or C2 is connected?

                            Answer :

There are a few ways to determine whether the Fiery RIP connected to the Color imageRUNNER C3200 / C3220 is an imagePASS C1 or imagePASS C2.

                            1. Check the memory sticker near the power plug.
The imagePASS C1 will show 128 MB.
The imagePASS C2 will show 256 MB.

                            2. Look for the 2 digit digital display on the imagePASS.
If you see the display, the model is the imagePASS C2. The imagePASS C1 does not have any type of digital display.

                            3. Look at the fans near the power plug.
The imagePASS C1 will have 2 fans, the same size.
The imagePASS C2 will have 1 larger fan.

                            4. Look at the connector panel.
The imagePASS C1 will have a parallel port.

                              no digital display,
                              definitely imagePASS C1!
