[Misc] iR-ADV C355iF Scan to email lock up

    Hey guys

I have a customer who does a fair amount of scanning on this little C355iF - not a bad little machine!

It appears to have a very odd issue when they do scanning.

Currently customer has the scan to email function defaulted to double-sided originals as well as skip blank pages. There is also a service mode setting changed to allow the unit to retain the destination and settings so that the customer can keep firing paper in the doc feeder and scanning new files.

Out of the box the original size when you look at the scan settings is set to LTR - no big deal. Customer asks about doing mixed originals (letter and legal) because they sometimes do both in one document. If you set it the machine to "auto" it will feed there paper but say "waiting to scan" or "waiting to send" and it will sit there forever.

    F/W is latest.

    Any thoughts?

This machine will only scan in letter-R direction - doesn't do 11x17. So for that reason, Canon has not included a "different sized originals" button on the copy or scan modes. If you pick LEGAL as an original size it will scan perfect, same with LETTER. Only when you use Auto does it fail. Taking copies using AUTO works perfect - seems to just be Scan and Send that is not working.

Tech support guys at Canon are scratching heads like me!

    Let's start with 'I haven't got a clue'

Following logic, the only difference between scan-and-copy and scan-and-email is the documents are converted to a file-format instead of being printed. So I would think the problem lies in saving the documents to mixed-format. I assume the files are mailed as pdf ? have you tried a different pdf type or file format ?
