Canon IR 5185 Pink color spread on page

I have a 5185 that runs great. It has all new drums and the other day when I was printing 100 pieces at a time some of them had a pink color spread on them on one side. It looks like someone took a brush with pink color and brushed it on the right side of the page right to the right edge.

Out of the 100 maybe it started 20 in and ended when there was 10 left. This happened several times sometimes starting at the beginning, 10 in, 30 in whatever.

I called a copier tech and he said immediately it was the magenta drum. I told him I purchased it on Ebay and it was a genuine Canon and he told me that sometimes these drums have been sitting along time.

I pulled the drum and it was spotless. There was nothing anywhere.

Is this true? Should I shake the drum to mix of the developer? Or just get a new one?

    Thanks

I would suggest try another magenta drum.

Oh, the joy of those drum units. I found out that these do not like severe cold weather as I had a few new drums putting toner down a side of a page, like a paint brush as you describe. When the weather gets super cold I would drop the drums off at a customer and return and install them a few hours later as they would be in my car over night. Sounds like a classic drum issue for this model.

Have u removed the ITB to inspect it ?

Under the ITB sheet u have the 4 Primary Transfer Rollers,
one for each color, if the Magenta roller is not set down into catch it pushes up inside sheet and drags against drum surface, causing similar CQ issues.
Those rollers snap in on both ends, have seen them crack on ends, cause to lift out of position, believe there is a small spring on them.
