Please advise on Imagerunner cassette gears installation

Have a customer with IR4570 and the gears on one of the cassettes for the sliders came out. Could you please give
the instruction on how to reinstall. They use for letter size short way and I could probably just put a screw or 2 in
well placed spots as stoppers but would like to know procedure for gear replacement and SM does not show how.

Your help is appreciated very much. Frank/Action Photocopy

I took off metal plate and positioned sliders so that the arrows were at edge of well that gear is placed into. I should have compared with other tray
but very busy tax office and they needed to use machine. In the past I either ordered new tray or put screws into bottom of tray to act as stopper.

What I did seems okay.don't know it will hold. Frank

Don't know if you can replace them as usually the plastic locating ping breaks off, best solution is screw the guides into a fixed position or replace the complete cassette if you can find a good one.

I've used epoxy on the gears to lock them in place. Good temporary fix (until new cassette come in) or permanent fix if the customer doesn't need to adjust the paper width.

Re: Please advise on Imagerunner cassette gears installation

I’ve basically built my OWN cassette repair kit using some T-Nuts, brass screws, a flat washer and some Locktite (Blue). I use a round file to enlarge the hole where the post broke off, as well as the center of the gear to accommodate the diameter of the T-nut... and that becomes the new "post" for the cassette gear.

A repair kit for 10 cassettes might cost me all of $9-$10 at Lowes/Home Depot..

That said, there's a company that makes a "KIT" for cassette repair....

i am just going to put a screw thru tray to stop metal slider. customer only uses for letter size. The other tray works fine as does machine.

If my fix does not last then

i will get new tray as they are available and customer is willing. Thanks you everyone for all the information. You are the best. rank

I drive a tapping screw behind the back plate from underneath so the plate can't go back any further. Hasn't failed me yet.
