I have an Adv C5240 with only 59k copies in the field that suddenly stopped printing and scanning. We connected direct to a computer bypassing the network and still nothing. We've cleared out everything, started from scratch, still nothing. It copies and faxes fine but no print or scan. Is the Main Controller 1 the only thing I need to look at or am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Adv C5240 not printing
We ran both of these and they resulted in OK. Could it still be possible the Main Controller 1 is bad? Every feature, except Print and Scan, work fine. They didn't have any power surge that they are aware of and they do have it on a strong surge protector.Comment

Re: Adv C5240 not printing
Update, Hytec sent me another Main Controller 1, still doesn't print but now it gives a message on the bottom of the screen saying Competing IP address on Network and we know there is nothing in the office with this IP address, we tried several other IP addresses with the same result. The copier won't go out and find an IP address using DHCP. And when we assigned an IP address, we couldn't PING it. We connected it directly to a computer using a crossover cable to bypass their network and still the same problem. Also, when we put their original Main Cont 1 in, it does not give us the message about competing address but everything else is the same. Any ideas?Comment

Re: Adv C5240 not printing
Try a "Initialize All Data"
Warning:
Initializing all data will initialize many factory settings, the back up data sheet located on the very last page of the Service Manual lists all that is cleared when performing this function, print out a user data list 1st!
To Initialize All Data: You must be logged in as administrator > Select Settings Registration > Management Settings > Data Management > Initialize All Settings > select yes, this will roboot the machine and a new screen will appear explaining "do not cut power" and a 20 minute time allocation bar**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Adv C5240 not printing
Update: The problem was on their network side. Of course that was our first question and we were told their IT people checked everything on their side and the problem was with the copierComment

Re: Adv C5240 not printing
Network side:
Yes been down that road. We trouble shot a machine and told the customer that they needed to check their network and their guy came unglued. Their IT guy came out ranting and saying that it cannot be MY NETWORK. So we tested the machine further and hooked up a laptop up to the copier and it printed OK. Again I told them that there is something on their network causing the problem or a bad cable, and then again with the ranting about how he has been doing this for X number of years. Finally traced it down to a bad cable when he guy went to lunch and showed the owner and he agreed that was the problem. So no matter how GOOD an IT guy thinks he is, things can go wrong with THEIR network. Just saying.Comment
