    CANON IR ADV 5045i NOT PRINTING BLACK

    Hello comrades, i have the machine mentioned above that has failed to print black both copying and printing.
    Have checked on the black drum unit and the dev unit all look to be fine.
    Have cleaned the fiber array and laser to no vail.
    Anybody with any idea please you are welcome.All other colours print and copy well.

    Check for error codes, e020 may indicate the main motor assembly isn't working, they can have issues. Run a motor check in service mode for black drum or dev and listen for any noises. If all that checks out, swap lasers, had a K laser go bad with NO error codes.

      Most of the time it is the dev drive coupler (x shaped), if it is the black one it probably is. Have had the coupler on the main drive fall off also a couple of times. I also think you should look at the error codes.

        have you done a 'half stop' to see if ANY toner is there?

        you really haven't given us enough information to go on.

          All of the couplers need replaced on the C5000 Series. The old ones were black and the new updated ones with the pin are white. Its not necessary to replace them in the machine side. Just replace them on the dev. side. They will just shoot blanks when they fail. The customer does not like this!
          I have used Canon Imagerunner parts for sale. Most are floor model Color and / Advances Imagerunner with some 3025 3235 parts. Several intact machines being parted.

            you really haven't given us enough information to go on.
            Drum unit and drum all look fine the machine just made about 300k copies ,when stopped half way no prints on the drum yet it rotates well together with dev unit.

              Take out the DV unit check the Coupling on the back of the DV unit it's a + . Is the coupling Black? If so you need to change with the modification. The new one is white and comes with a pin...

                Hello comrade,have checked the dev unit coupler and seems fine because when i remove the ITB unit cover the system drives fine.Which areas can i check again.

                  No image on drum? Did you swap out the laser? I have had laser issues with no error codes before.

                    Not yet comrade,but out of much manourver,i can now get very faint copy as is poor transfer or low bias.On observation,the infra red lights on the black unit light dimmly than the other colours ,could it be the cause of the faint copy even after swapping the small bulbs?
