Thanks for input Teckat. I am only one servicing machine in last year. Have not removed any connectors except on tray 4 pickup asm which I just changed due to the jamming Customer is over 20 miles away so I want to have a some more input before going back. Frank

things to check for a delay jam

Check the flag operation
The Cassette 3 Retry Sensor Flag is visible at the middle of the Pickup Roller.

The Cassette 3 Retry Sensor (PS8) is visible in the Cassette 3 Pickup Assembly.

: does it happen on all paper sizes
:did u check tray 3 and 4 operations in I/O - sensor , etc
: did u swap cassettes ?
: ? is this jam on copying & driver printing ?
: ? Is this a constant or intermittent issue ?

0102/0103/0104/0A02/0A03/0A04 Jam Code due to deterioration of noise reduction material on the solenoid in the paper pick-up assembly.

To reduce noise, the pad [1] is attached to the solenoid (FK2-0408-000) used in the paper pick-up assembly.

As this pad deteriorates over time, the glue on the double-sided tape may become exposed. If this glue is adhered to the claw [a] of the solenoid, the return motion of the claw is delayed, resulting in a jam.

Only jams from tray 4

all sizes jam from tray 4
did not do a service mode i/o sensor .----not familiar with procedure
swapped trays and still jams from tray 4 so not a tray problem
lams from copying and from printing
jams every page


I will remove tray 3 pick up assembly and check solenoid + sensor , flag. If need be I can swap with old tray 4 pickup asm which I removed when replacing with new one. Evident;y i replaced wrong pickup asm but will resolve this and post results. Thank you Teckatfor all the extra info which is very helpful. I have seen that solenoid /felt issue on many machines including brother , HP etc.

It seems the lower door may have been slightly warped due to customer intervention. Noticed when i pressed against it the paper always went through.
I improvise something with door to cause more pressure and has been working since. Will order new door for next visit..Thank you Techat for all yourhelp and info. Frank
