Customer says they were doing a print job and the machine jammed. They cleared the jam and the top cassette now says load paper no matter what cassette is in the top drawer. The bottom cassette/drawer is working just fine. When reaching into the bottom drawer and triggering the switches for cassette size, the panel will register the corresponding paper size, however when doing the same on the top drawer, no paper size will come up. I had read somewhere that this happens when printing using the wrong size paper and the remedy for that was to cancel the print job. I am not sure if this is the answer or not, but when checking in the printer properties there are no print jobs pending. Does this machine store the jobs locally on the MFP? If so, is there a way to check and clear the job out from the machine or the web console? Also, I cant find the default password for either the web interface or the admin mode on the machine. Any other possible suggestions as to what the cause is would be welcomed.

Re: Canon 400 IF "load paper" message
The cassette size detection switch has a wire fault. Common issue, take the back off the device with the cassette out and you can remove the wiring there. I had this issue long before Canon knew about it and could not order the wire, but found the individual dev wire harness from a 5000 series device has the same number of connectors if you are not able to get a wire harness. Common issue, most likely yours as well! -
