canon image runner advance 6565i scan ratio issues

I have two canon imagerunner advance 6565i...
    copy and print... perfect...

scanning... on letter size... pdf... scan ratio at 100 percent...
scanned document will intermittently appear shrunk with a border around it... and text will seem like it was pasted on and then copied... so there is a noticeable white background to text... in comparison to rest of page...

customer showed me this... when scan is perfect... size of file is very large... when scan is not perfect... size of scanned file is 1/5 the size...

this is intermittent with two copy machines side by side... only occurs when scanning...

    copying and printing fine...

issue appears on adobe reader... then when file is printed on hp... it shows up...
and no hp printer is fine...

    my thoughts...

check service mode to see if any errors are occurring repeatedly...

check if frame erase has been turned on... or should be turned on...

firmware update... could be a glitch...

adf is not aligned... and scanner is more sensitive... test would be to scan from glass table and see if issue manifests itself... if no then issue is skewed image on adf...

I need to test voltage on outlets... more than 5% variance can cause strange issues...

check data compression ratio for remote scans... in additional function, common settings, data compression...

I may need to adjust scan ratio... even though at 100 percent... I might need to increase it...

play with the scan resolutions... different scan resolutions may have different effects...

check if we have a frame detect unit and clean and /or replace...

if anyone has seen this before... please share your experience...

    Try this---------------------------------

Disable or set Page Scaling to None
in addition to selecting "none" on paper scaling when you go to print, you also need to select "choose paper source by PDF page size"

didn't get a chance to go back... supervisor went instead...
      when he started testing...
he found that in scanning... the copier color setting was set to auto...
when scanning started... it switched color settings...
sometimes... it worked out and sometimes it gave crappy scans...
it would do gray scale or color at random in auto...
so he set it for gray scale I believe... (I was not there so I may be mistaken)
but the point is that the auto color picking was the problem...

      now regarding the last post...
that combined with this post sounds like a more permanent fix...
