Is the MEAP function of the imagerunner advance machines a license that has to be purchased or is it already enabled on this machines? We have a customer that wants to install Papercut and it needs the MEAP enabled.

MEAP (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform) is Canon's java based application platform, it is a integrated part of the operating system.
To get something installed you normally just need to upload required the .jar (application) and .lic (license) files via SMS, and then enable the app and reboot.

MEAP
MEAP (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform) is a framework for enhancing and optimizing various functions installed on the machine such as "Communication," "Authentication" and "Output." For instance, user management using IC cards and collaboration with software which streamlines file processing becomes possible through MEAP. To enhance functions as stated before, you are required to install a dedicated application called a "MEAP application" on the machine. You can install MEAP applications and check their usage status by displaying the SMS (Service Management Service) from the Remote UI.
In order to install a MEAP application, you are required to log in as an administrator

is it possible to get the license file for the meap application? i cant get it from my canon, only uniflow, but we have one customer that uses the papercut for all of the other machines and he wants to get their new canon machine to be added to papercut.

Attention to the generation 3 Models.
They changed the initial MEAP version from ME to SE.
Device with the Platform 3.3 have the MEAP Version ME, from version 3.4 and newer, the version SE is included.
Therefore, it is also important to take the right Papercut version.Comment
