On canon IR finisher. Could this be the ribbon cable. As paper drops in swing guide to staple, the machine error codes. Stapler moves to rear ready to staple?

When it's a break in the ribbon cable the stapler usually won't move at all.
I don't have my caddy with me so i can't check the error code details sorry.

      it says:
      E531 8001 Staple
      motor(M111)/
      Staple home
      position detect
      sensor(PI50)
The stapler does not return to the staple home position when the staple motor has been driven for 0.5 sec.
8002 The stapler does not leave the staple home positionwhen the staple motor has been driven for 0.5 sec.
Is this refering to the stapler itself, i'e the opening and closing of stapler or the cariage back and forth, as that seems ok?
Stapler moves by hand, but when stapling as i say, paper falls in to be stapled, but instaed of stapler trying to staple, it just errors. Stapler appears ok, nothing obvious.

So the stapler moves back and forth on the runners ok?
I had a finisher this week that would only staple one side of a saddle stitched job...no error codes.
On inspection I found the stylus for the copier had dropped down in the path of the carriage.

          Having the exact same issue.
Did you replace the stapler unit, if so did that fix it?

Isn't V1 for the IR7105. T1 or T2 finisher is the one for the 5570/6570.
I would try the ribbon cable to see if that resolves the problem.
