    [Misc] IR1730i - smearing toner

    Hi all,

    Has anyone had this problem?
The machine pretty much had a full service kit installed, drum, developer, transfer roller, and static eliminator. Still doing the same thing.
The machine was being used while the toner was empty, for some time, could that have affected the developer?

I've tested different paper as well but no luck.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure where is the problem exactly. Loose lines?

That may not have been a good example: see the attached

Have you tried replacing the whole transfer feed assembly (FM4-6520-000)? Another easy something to try, on the static eliminator/guide. Wrap a bit of electrical tape over the far side contact and reinstall. Does the problem go away?

replace the transfer rolller and static eliminator, there is a bulletin on SIMS about it

I've replaced the whole transfer assembly with a known working one but still no joy.

Really tearing my hair out trying to discover what's wrong with this machine!

                    Hi Idharnden,

I have tried replacing the whole transfer assembly. I also did try the electrical tape on the static eliminator but didn't change anything unfortuntely

                      Hi all,

Please can someone tell me what would cause a background on a printout. Surely something is not being discharged correctly?0114_001.pdf

                        Hi,
Let's try this: Spread some few copy sheets in a sunshine and ensure it is totally moist free. Use the sheets immediately for copy and see if there is an improvement. If there is, the problem might be cause by moisture.
If no positive result, try interchanging the HVT with a known working one.

                          Hi Andy,

I have done what you suggested with the paper but no change at all - so I guess it's not a moisture issue.
I have also replaced the transfer roller and static eliminator but nothing either. I've changed the HVT previously as well
