    Formart Hard disk on iR2270/3225

I think, everybody knows, that you can edit the .ift files to format any hard disk for older Canon series. Is it possible to do that for newer Canon series??
I looked at the .ift files but it looks like they are secured. I heard of any kind
of tool, which would be able to format the Hard disk. Has anybody experience?

Would be nice, 'cause a new hard disk coast a lot.

    Stay tuned to this thread...
My service manager is currently having that same discussion with Canon as we speak.
We have tried the replacing the EXACT same brand/model/capacity HDD as the model in the machine but it STILL doesn't work.
Canon insists that you MUST use genuine drive for the new range of machines.
We asked them whether Canon places software onto these drives for security reasons...they said no...but that they would get back to us with details on how to do it(we get spoiled by Canon and are privy to Canon's secret crap...for example..we have access to the U.S. based Technical knowledge website. )
So when I find out how it's done I'll post up a step by step.

I'll check in with work tomorrow.
Being based at a University has kept me out of the loop a little

I don't know how to do that. Doesn't the service support tool format the drive anyway. Please tell me how this is done, Thanks

My Service Manager is on a break but once he get's back to work I should have an answer from Canon either way.
