    ImagePrograf iPF710 Error

1st of this model for me , have done HP plotters . Customer says they recently replaced the print head and the maintenance unit . Shortly after they started to get a hardware error : 03130031-2618 , found service manual online , it showed that this code was a VH voltage error , but was not clear as to what this related to . Did a search of the service manual for VH , something to do with a power supply . I was hoping someone was more familiar with this unit than me , and could maybe nudge me in the right direction , thanks as always , Ark .

I am very familiar with this machine! 90% of my work is on Canon ipf Models. Yes this error refers to a Voltage Error "possibly" originating at the Power Supply! I like to eliminate things first so if you can; please disconnect from any Battery Back-up, try a different outlet, and replace the standard 3 Prong Power Cable if you are able.
Then we need to verify what the customer is telling you. No offense but they just don't know the machines very well and tend to be wrong a lot. Did they replace the "Purge Unit" or the "Maintenance Cartridge"? I am guessing Maintenance Cartridge which means that even if the Printhead is new, the Problem may be with the Purge Unit and it's inability to take care of the Printhead. This can cause a Voltage Error, originating in the Printhead. Take the far right side cover off, Check that the Purge Unit looks clean (you can rinse the Ink Absorbers) and that it operates properly.
If all is good in this area and everything else checks out, then yes I would order and Install a new Power Supply.
If you decide the Purge Unit is not doing what it is supposed to then replace it first and see if it is able to recover the Printhead. If not then you may need to replace the PH as well, unfortunately. Which reminds me, always checks the days elapsed on the Printhead because like I said, Customers just don't know what they are talking about sometimes. If over 2 years then the Printhead could just be at the end of its life and I would start there.

+1 on all of the above. I'd also like to add checking the voltage from the outlet the machine is plugged into. Is it within spec? (Check the manual for the +/- voltages) Is it on a dedicated outlet, or is something else sharing power with the machine? (Space heaters?). I had one a couple of years back where the power coming into the building was around 113 VAC, and the power company had to come out and replace the transformer feeding the building. Once it was replaced, no more power related error codes.

      Good luck.
