I believe error 145 is Timeout has occurred because of a communication failure.

Is it possible you are not using a laptop with a parallel port for the centronics cable? If you are using a USB to Parallel - that is a no-go unless the cable is a NetHawk.

Have you followed the upgrade procedures...You have to do it step by step.

Start your computer, start the SST, connect the parallel cable to the copier, plug in the copier, press and hold 2+8 and turn on the copier until the Down load mode it displayed.

I think you mean IEEE1284. You need to have ECP mode enabled for your computer's parallel port. This can be changed in the BIOS (usually by pressing F10 when booting and/or in the device settings in Windows.

Edit: I guess your problem was not using download mode on the copier, but not using ECP mode on the computer is a number possible problem for some users.

You need to enable the ECP mode in your computer in the BIOS settings.
This can take care of your problem .
If u dono much about the ECP mode , try using a cross cable(Ethernet cable) and communicate with the Ip address in the SST.
