Advance 400if load paper

Has anyone had the problem where copier says load paper when the tray has it. I don't think it's lifting, but I checked the lifting motor in service mode and it works. For some reason I think this should be an easy one but can't seem to find it.

does it show a paper size in the paper select menu on the copy screen? .. if not then it could be the size detect unit at the back of the machine that is faulty

Known issue, wire harness to the tray detection assembly has been modified. It breaks at a tie wrap.

not had one for a while, you can reinsert the wires into the plug if you're lucky
if not its an easy replacement

Wire harness not available when I first encountered this issue, no bulletin at that time. The wire harness from a 5000, 5200 advance dev unit has the same number of wires and fits.

It was the wire the harness. One wire came off at the connector so I soldered it back and is working for now. I will order a couple of size detect units since they are under $9 each.

Order the harness, not the detect unit as it doesn't come with the wiring.

Actually looks like the part number upstream includes the harness as well.
