Hi i would like to venture on Canon IRC3100N Copier. Can anyone help us comment on this unit, if this is a good machine? My primary purpose for this unit is to use the Printer and as Black & White Copier? For color, i may not use it at all or maybe use it 10%. How many drum does this unit have? Can i disable the color and use it only as black and white? What is/are the most commonly encountered problems on this unit? Thanks.
Need Information for IRC3100N

This Machine is one of the worst Canons ever made. Even when used as a black and white it dumps colour toner everywhere which is its biggest fault causing dirty sensors and dirtier copies, also has a very short drum life .. DO NOT TOUCH IT ..or its offspring.. On the other hand its big sister the irc3200 is brilliant .. If you basically want a black and white copier/printer buy any Canon black and white copier, they can all be linked now,and save yourself loads of money and grief ..
Have a look at previous posts about this model.. -
Irish is 100% correct it's a bad machine. I wish we never had to deal with them. The 3200 is much better does color and runs all day. stay away from the 3100/3170 series. Is the glass half full or half empty? I say neither. The glass is obviously full, full of potential. The potential to hold more water or the potential to quench a thirst. Life is all about how you see it.Comment

The only time this machine or its offspring have been any good is when they have been dropped out of a 20th floor window with no support
If you are looking to buy a copier / printer with colour capability go for a fully refurbished iRC3200N or iRC2880I there are some very good ones with low mileage starting to hit the second hand market and they will save you blood sweat and tears compaired to the 3100's (including 3170's and 3180's).
Usually I'm not so negative about Canon machines but these ones are really bad.
The 3200's are regarded as full colour so if you find your usage for colour is going up this machine is future proof especially if it is kept clean and is serviced regually (PM's at 100,000 to 250,000 clicks). 2880's are not full colour but this does not stop people using it as such and as yet apart from the usual items like drums and feed / pick up rollers this hasn't caused a problem.Comment
