    Canon ImageRunner Advance C5051

e Went out on a Canon ImageRunner Advance And when I tried to get into the service mode, there is a Password that must be entered by a tech. I have never seen this before. I was told by Hytec that I need to get the Firmware and reload it. Then do a couple other things. I was wondering if anyone has come across this and how can I remove the Password to enter the service mode. If I need the firmware can someone help me get it. Thanks in advance

Someone make a password for a reason. You do not need a service mode for system upgrade.

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

Yes I realize I don't need to go into service mode to update f/w. Also the client does not want to use the Canon Dealer in town as they have had bad experiences with them. I also realize the p/w lock was put there for a reason. I would like to disable it so I can access the service mode in the future.

Load the firmware for the device on a USB drive and plug the drive into the machine while it is off, boot into safe mode (hold down 2 and 8 while turning on the power) you should get a menu, choose the clear option (usually 4) and there will be an option to clear service mode password.

Try going into service mode to clear and clear password. Default is 7654321, 7654321. Then it will ask you to change it. There is a way to go to settings and change it but you need a password .
