e Went out on a Canon ImageRunner Advance And when I tried to get into the service mode, there is a Password that must be entered by a tech. I have never seen this before. I was told by Hytec that I need to get the Firmware and reload it. Then do a couple other things. I was wondering if anyone has come across this and how can I remove the Password to enter the service mode. If I need the firmware can someone help me get it. Thanks in advance

Re: Canon ImageRunner Advance C5051
Someone make a password for a reason. You do not need a service mode for system upgrade.Practice makes perfect
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
A picture is worth a thousand words
If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself

Yes I realize I don't need to go into service mode to update f/w. Also the client does not want to use the Canon Dealer in town as they have had bad experiences with them. I also realize the p/w lock was put there for a reason. I would like to disable it so I can access the service mode in the future.Comment

Re: Canon ImageRunner Advance C5051
Load the firmware for the device on a USB drive and plug the drive into the machine while it is off, boot into safe mode (hold down 2 and 8 while turning on the power) you should get a menu, choose the clear option (usually 4) and there will be an option to clear service mode password.Comment
